The R&A is transferring The Open championship in 2028 to keep away from clashing with the Los Angeles Olympics golf match.
With the Olympic {golfing} medals being determined between 19-29 July, the 156th staging of golf’s oldest main has been shunted again from its conventional slot within the third week of July to 3-6 August.
The lads’s Senior Open will happen from 10-13 August, with the Girls’s Open being held from 17-20 August.
“Offering readability on the dates now will help with the planning of the worldwide golf calendar in 2028,” mentioned R&A chief government Mark Darbon.
“The Open will probably be returning to its regular mid-July dates in 2029.”
The venues for all three main championships in 2028 will probably be confirmed at a later date.
