The Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) shall be held each 4 years from 2028, Confederation of African Soccer president Patrice Motsepe has introduced.
The match has taken place each two years since 1968, with a one-year hole between the 2012 and 2013 editions.
However the match will swap to a four-year cycle after the 2027 Afcon in East Africa and a 2028 version.
Motsepe has as a substitute introduced the creation of an African Nations League which can happen yearly from 2029.
“Now we have essentially the most thrilling new construction for African soccer,” Motsepe stated.
