For Ossola, who lives in Turin and first competed at Tokyo 2020, his proposal had additional significance, given his journey and a lifetime of unimaginable loss.
A motorbike accident in 2015 resulted within the loss of life of his first spouse and meant Ossola needed to have most of his left leg amputated.
