Rory McIlroy rued his expensive bogeys on 15 and 17 as he made no try to cover his disappointment after being pipped for Irish Open victory by Rasmus Hojgaard.
“I felt like I used to be answerable for the match for many of the day. I felt I used to be taking part in actually strong and doing what I wanted to do. Making quite a lot of pars, making the odd birdie,” stated the house hero.
“Then clearly the 2 bogeys on 15 and 17 opened the door for somebody to have end like what Rasmus did on the previous few holes.”
The Dane’s nine-under-par whole at Royal County Down left him a stroke forward of McIlroy who narrowly missed an eagle probability on the final which – if transformed – would have meant a play-off.
