Hopes of a royal winner on Coronation day have been dashed when Saga — ridden by Frankie Dettori within the colors of His Majesty King Charles and Queen Camilla — was pipped by the ironically-named William Buick-ridden King of Conquest within the Suffolk Stakes at Newmarket.
Dettori, who needed to await a niche to begin his run which regarded expensive, mentioned: ‘He ran an excellent race, however I couldn’t go after I wished to.
William simply bought a few lengths on me, however he ran an excellent race.
‘I watched the Coronation this morning. It was fairly particular.’
All just isn’t misplaced: the King and Queen’s colors are sported by Barrier at Salisbury on Sunday (5.05).
