Bernie Ecclestone believes Lewis Hamilton is extra prone to retire than settle for a suggestion to drive for Ferrari.
Mail Sport broke the information of the Italian group’s interest on Monday, reporting that they need the seven-time world champion as soon as his £40million-a-year contract with Mercedes expires on the finish of this season.
Hamilton, 38, is in talks over a renewal together with his present group principal Toto Wolff. Each events say a brand new deal will probably be struck.
Ferrari’s favoured thought is to pair Hamilton with Charles Leclerc, their present No 1, rather than Carlos Sainz.
Forward of this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix, Ecclestone, who ran the game for 40 years and stays in shut contact with the principle gamers, stated: ‘I don’t know why Lewis would suppose he can be higher off at Ferrari than the place he’s in the meanwhile.
