Sergio Perez doubled his reward of rookie driver Franco Colapinto and reckoned the younger Argentine “did not put a foot unsuitable” in his defence on the Singapore Grand Prix.
Colapinto as soon as once more impressed in Singapore with a courageous transfer into Flip 1, which ensured he obtained as much as ninth place on the opening lap. He then held his personal in defence towards Perez, which stifled the Mexican driver’s progress within the first 28 laps.
Over the radio, Perez put apart his frustration to talk extremely of Colapinto, stating “he is superb, tough to cross” because the Mexican remained within the FW46’s wheel-tracks.
Perez took the chance to pit on the finish of the twenty eighth tour and, though Williams responded to deliver Colapinto in a lap later, the offset was sufficient for Perez to only undercut his fellow Latin American.
Colapinto adopted Perez house by 1.6 seconds on the flag, having been unable to shut to inside DRS vary in direction of the tip as Perez was in flip caught behind Nico Hulkenberg.
“He did a unbelievable race,” Perez added on the finish of the race.
“He didn’t put a foot unsuitable. It was very tough to maintain up with him on the time and it was only a tough race.
“Ultimately we managed to do the undercut on him, however that was the one one we may do.”

Colapinto was grateful for Perez’s feedback, extra so provided that he spent his childhood supporting the Crimson Bull driver whereas watching F1.
This didn’t masks Colapinto’s disappointment to not handle factors, which he put right down to going too lengthy on the medium tyres which made him inclined to getting undercut.
“I used to be making an attempt to push,” he stated. “Checo is an excellent good man and I grew up watching him racing in F1, waking up early in Argentina, and supporting him as a man from Mexico, this was the closest to us.
“It was very good to assist him after I was little. And now it is even higher to be racing towards him.
“It is a pity to not have completed with factors after a very good effort. However yeah, it’s what it’s. Additionally respectable race, however we made some errors that did not allow us to end within the factors.
“If you do all the pieces good…we weren’t good at the moment, and I feel that is why we aren’t within the factors.”
