Carrick Rangers goalkeeper Jack McIntyre has apologised for the incident in Saturday’s Irish Premiership recreation in opposition to Cliftonville by which a ball boy seemed to be pushed to the bottom.
A Carrick Rangers assertion stated the membership and the goalkeeper wished to “apologise for any misery prompted”.
“In acknowledging any misery prompted, the membership has made a donation to the Northern Eire Kids’s Hospice, and also will endeavour to make contact with the ball tender and their household,” stated the membership’s assertion.
“Any inside disciplinary investigation will, in accordance with employment good follow, stay confidential between the worker and employer. Carrick Rangers FC might be making no additional touch upon this matter.”
Earlier, the Police Service of Northern Eire (PSNI) stated “enquiries are ongoing” into the incident whereas the Irish Soccer Affiliation added that it was “conscious of the incident”.
“Police obtained a report of an assault at a soccer match within the Cliftonville Avenue space of north Belfast on Saturday, March 22,” stated a PSNI assertion.
